Upper East Side NY Apartment

Working closely with the owners and their decorator Brian McCarthy, we transformed an apartment whose generous size and sunny exposures were its chief selling points. The program set by the owners was this: "Whatever you do, don't give me my grandmother's upper east side apartment."

Creative teamwork and collaboration produced a surprising mix of fresh materials and architectural details that breathed new life into the conventional apartment. The four-bedroom apartment was gut-renovated, resulting in a new master bedroom, new his and her master baths and closets, new detailing and materials for the public rooms, a new kitchen and a breakfast room. For a dining room that felt too large, niches were introduced.
